URSA Minor Version 1.0

This is the prototype for our first product.  The huge image is so that the smaller characters can be read by users who will be learning to operate it.

This prototype module has been built into a calculator pencil box which was acquired from Avon, the cosmetics company.
It connects to the user's computer through a built in serial cable, and comes with
a power adapter,
a Quick Start Guide,
an Instruction Manual, and
an informative CD.
The next version will have a detatchable two line LCD display, for use with the setup procedures.

The module is a Universal Reader Simulator Appliance (thus URSA), and this one, without the display or any fancy options, is designated as Minor.
When the advanced version is complete, it will be designated as URSA Major, and will be marked with the appropriate constellation.

The URSA is a simple device, intended to reduce the developer's learning effort.
The four key elements are the Power connector, the Serial connector, the Display, and the Keyboard.

The Display area will be not active in the prototypes.
A separate, detachable display will be provided.
The power input connector receives a 2.1 x 5.5 plug
from the provided 9 to 12v external supply.
The DB9S Serial connector plugs into any available serial port on the user's computer.

The Keyboard has two levels of legend with one set of characters on the keys, and another on the background.
